With the help of the Student Council, we have developed our own Newton Road Learning Pit.
At Newton Road, we embrace the concept of the Learning Pit to help students navigate challenges and build resilience. The Learning Pit represents the journey of learning, where students may initially feel stuck or uncertain when faced with a new concept or problem. This "dip" is a natural and valuable part of the learning process.
Our teachers guide students through the pit by encouraging a growth mindset, fostering critical thinking, and teaching problem-solving strategies. As students work their way out of the pit, they develop confidence, perseverance, and a deeper understanding of the subject. At Newton Road, children are praised for their use of growth mindset and this is celebrated during our weekly assemblies.
The Learning Pit helps children see challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to grow and succeed, preparing them for a lifetime of learning and achievement.
